The purpose of my website is for young unsigned footballers to come and train for a few weeks with the organisations' coaches and they help arrange showcases/open trial dates for the young footballers to show their skills in front of scouts from professional academy set ups from up and down the leagues and country.
‘The way design elements are put together on a page is perhaps the first aspect that one notices on a website. A page that’s too crowded or chaotic can overwhelm a visitor. However, it’s not only the number of things placed on the page that produces this effect, the position of each item relative to the others also contributes to the feeling of “too much” or “too little”. ‘(JWAY group)

Having the grid in mind heavily influenced
the structure of my web design. ‘The foremost purpose of a
grid is to establish a set of guidelines for how elements should be positioned
within a layout.’ (Creativebloq 2014) Looking at my home page, I used the lines
as divide between the text and other images on the page. This was very
important as I had to bare in mind my website was going to used mainly by young
boys ranging from 12 – 18 years of age so the website had to be plain and easy
to navigate in terms of finding the information they needed.
The design of my website was influenced by a
website called ‘footballcv.com’ in terms of the colours used and typography
staying the same across all the pages used. ‘Footballcv.com’ stuck to the
guideline of using red, black and white and this was recipient in my design as
I stuck to green, white and black throughout. ‘A well-designed site will have
an effective color scheme. Color theory helps designers differentiate websites
from the competition. It also helps websites leverage the effect color may have
on users.’ (Learnitanytime 2014) There are underlying factors to be considered,
such as the brand’s color, the gender and age of the target market, the emotion
that it conveys, along with possible cultural connotations. The choice of black
is because black is straight to the point and green represents the pitch which bodes
well as the whole concept of the website is to do with football.
A user’s overall experience
on mobile devices should be the same as a desktop experience; meaning, images
should be adaptive and flexible, content should be essential and more. My
mobile app home page is straight to the point as it has way more less texts which
makes it quicker to use on all devices such as androids, Blackberrys and Iphones’
meaning the pages wont take to long to load up when searching for information.
Again the concept of colours and typography is the same as I am presenting my
brand as an organization trying to compete with others to attract more players.
